With 0.5 seconds left to go, Arlington had a one point lead with still a free throw to shoot. So they basically had the game in the bag.

But that's when a crucial error occurred. Arlington decided to intentionally missthe second free throw, and....

That suuuuuuuuuuucks.

And here's a second angle just for good measure:

The decision to intentionally miss the second free throw is a common one in basketball. This strategy doesn't give the opposing team enough time to run an inbound play, so by intentionally missing, Arlington was basically forcing Central Christian Academy to try a full-court catch-and-heave. Rarely does this work for the unfortunate team doing the heaving.

But sometimes the Basketball Gods simply want you to lose, and this was, sadly, was one of those times.

Senior Josh Clanton, Central Christian Academy's newest legend, tried to make his famous shot with the pressure off but could not seem to recreate the magic.

Let this be a lesson: always make your free throws.
